Sherry is currently teacing private piano and general
music classes to young children as well as bass
lessons to older children and adults. Prior to this,
Sherry taught elementary music grades K-3 and
6-8 at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, Ca.
for eight years.
Before moving to Los Angeles, Sherry had completed
two years of general music teaching in grades
K-5, as well as being a Kindermusik
early
childhood music instructor. She was also
a private bass instructor and small jazz
combo instructor for high school students.
Sherry has participated in numerous music teacher training programs. Some
of these include Orff-Schulwerk Training Level I, Music Rhapsody Workshop
(Infants
through 3rd Grade Music training), Orff-Schulwerk Jazz Workshop, and the LA Jazz Society Outreach Project (curriculum writing). She was also awarded a school fellowship in 2003 by the Buckley School to pursue her teacher training and professional goals while working there.
Sherry is currently a member of MENC, the Jazz Education Network (JEN), American Federation of Musicians Local 47, Women in Jazz Network, AOSA, and is a state credentialed music teacher in California.
